This new tour only available from Thailand Great Tours is a great opportunity to visit Karen Hill Tribes in their natural surroundings. The tour is designed for all and involves no strenuous trekking, the ideal choice for student groups, families with young children and senior citizens. Here you will have the opportunity to meet local hill tribes going about their daily activities. You stay at a Karen Hill Tribe lodge with the luxury of very comfortable rooms and great food. The scenery is stunning and you will enjoy riding elephants through jungle and mountain streams. You will also visit a Lisu Hill Tribe village and see Lisu women dressed in their brightly colored costumes. The tour includes a visit to the tranquil town of Pai nestled in a valley surrounded with mountains which are the home of many hill tribes.

Tour Itinerary - 4 Days

  • Day 01

    Chiang Mai - Musikee Eco Lodge (L/D)

    Morning pick up from your Chiang Mai hotel and head north (approx 160 kms to Wat Chan) Stop at the local market and see local Thai people selling their goods.  Visit Nam Duang National Park where you visit Thailand’s largest geyser Pong Duat. Then continue along mountain scenery to visit Mok Fha waterfall where you can relax or swim in the natural surroundings. Continue to the mountains until you reach Baan Wat Chan the home of the Karen Hill Tribe people for over a century. You visit Baan Chan Temple then enjoy lunch in scenery of fragrant natural pine forest. Head into the mountains over narrow mountain roads to the Le Musikee mountain Lodge which is completely surrounded by forest, mountains and the sound of birds and mountain streams. In the afternoon you explore rice fields, hills and rivers and pristine nature around the Lodge. You can swim in the crystal clear mountain water or relax at the “sunbathing beach” in the middle of the jungle.

    At 18.30 Dinner is served at the lodge restaurant followed by a fascinating Karen Hill Tribe cultural show musical instruments and lively performances of proud young hill tribe people. This emotional show gives the audience an insight into the lifestyle of the hill tribe people. The evening is rounded off chatting around a log fire before retiring to the comfort of your private chalet.

  • Day 02

    Morning Trek - Karen Hill Tribe Lodge (B/L/D)

    Morning start around 07.30am with breakfast at the lodge. Around 09.00am you commence a 3 hour trek through jungle and along streams to the elephant camp. During the trek your guide will show you many edible fruit, herbs, and medicinal plants. Special Lunch will be Provided ( Jungle Style using all natural utensils - bamboo, Banana Leaves.  After Lunch swim at a crystal clear mountain waterfall pool. In the afternoon enjoy 1 ½ hours riding your elephant through jungle, over mountains and along streams. Continue with a short walk to Karen Hill Tribe Lodge. Here you relax at the village and enjoy a delicious barbeque afterwards enjoy chatting around the camp fire or at the bar until you retire in the comfort of your private room.

  • Day 03

    Morning Trek - Royal Project - Pai (B/L/D)

    Breakfast at Lodge, commence a 1 hour trek though the jungle and rice fields to Baan Houy Ya-Nai a Karen hill tribe village where an ancient traditional Karen Hill Tribe ceremony welcomes you. At the village you observe traditional daily activities such as rice pounding, weaving, and have the opportunity to see traditional hunting equipment. Visit Baan Sao Dang, a Lisu hill tribe village where you witness Lisu daily activities then continue to the Royal Project Baan Sao Dang specializing in indigenous and non-indigenous fruit and vegetables Picnic lunch is served at the village or the Royal Project. Here you can taste the delicious coffee grown at the Royal Project. Continue the trip to Pai, a small charming city nestling in a valley surrounded by mountains.  Dinner is served at a Chinese restaurant in the city, then enjoy bargaining at the mini night market, where hill tribes sell their goods.

  • Day 04

    Back to Chiang mai (B/L)

    Morning breakfast at resort. Drive to visit Wat Mae Yen temple then continue to visit Lod Cave where you see beautiful stalagmites and stalactites, then return to Pai for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch return to Chiang Mai around 17h30 and transfer to your hotel. – End of Service.
